Meet Wynnie the White Sheep

Relatives of Wynnie the White Sheep arrived in Australia in 1788 with the First Fleet. Twenty-nine fat-tailed sheep sailed from South Africa. Today, there are 104 million sheep in Australia.

Sheep have rectangular pupils allowing for 270 to 320 degrees of vision. They can see almost everything around them, except directly behind them.

Sheep have a divided grooved upper lip called a philtrum. They have no top front teeth instead they have a hard upper palate that the lower teeth press up against to chew food; and prefer to eat select grasses and other vegetation close to the soil surface.
